Grand Canyon National Park

Hi Everyone,

On Monday, Dec. 9th we awoke to snow and frost in the Grand Canyon. After we scraped ice off our car windows we drove over to the visitors center again and walked out to Mather Point where we found a very thick fog in the canyon.

As the fog began to lift we were fortunate enough to have the sun come out and show us the real grandeur of the canyon.

Here are Dad and Susie at Mather Point. Notice the winter gear they are wearing. This canyon is so immense it can be seen by astronauts from space

Finally, around 11 o'clock, the fog lifted enough so we could explore the rest of the South Rim of the park.

From Mather Point, we went to Yavapai Point.

Next, we went to Maricopa Point where there were still more breathtaking views of the huge chasm that is the Grand Canyon. It has taken the mighty Colorado River millions of years to carve this magnificent landscape to its present form.

Our last stop was at Hopi Point near the far end of the South Rim's "Hermit Road". At more than a mile deep and nearly twenty miles across, this is the biggest canyon we have seen on our Great Adventure and it truly is a "Grand" Canyon.

Dad managed to get a rare photo of Mom taking a picture of Susie at Hopi Point. Notice the snow in the foreground,

We said goodbye to the Grand Canyon and drove to Williams, AZ where we are staying for the night.

Tomorrow we will be saying goodbye to Susie at the airport in Las Vegas, and then moving to Henderson, Nevada where we will be staying for a few days😃.
