Here we are in Canada. "Beautiful British Columbia", according to the license plates on their vehicles. We drove here yesterday, July 5th, and it is indeed beautiful and awe-inspiring in these Canadian Rockies! The roads are better too and Dad says he feels much more comfortable driving here than he did in Montana, where everyone drives too fast. Many of these mountain peaks are still snow-covered.
On the way to Radium Hot Springs, where we are staying for the next 6 days, we stopped at a rest area and had lunch overlooking Columbia Lake. It is very long and had almost no homes or cottages on it.
We also passed by some hoodoos as we drove to our next destination. These are not as spectacular as the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park, which we will visit later on, but nonetheless, they were really cool.
Today, July 6th, we took a nice walk through the valley next to a roaring brook in the middle of Radium before driving 15 miles to another town called Invermere, on Lake Windermere to a farmer's market to buy some fresh vegetables. At the farmer's market, I met another Sheltie just like me and we rubbed noses, but we didn't bark at each other. She was younger, but Mom says she looked much older. I guess I'm still in good condition.
It rained yesterday, shortly after we arrived in Radium, and again today at noontime, so we had to cut short our plans to do more hiking. We were told that there is a herd of about 150 Bighorn Sheep that comes into the town, but we haven't seen them yet. I wonder if I can herd them? If the weather cooperates, tomorrow we will be going to Kootenay National Park and do some hiking😏.
