Hi Friends,
We are starting the third phase of our Great Adventure to visit the National Parks in California, starting with the Parks in the High Sierra Mountains.
After sweltering in the heat around Pheonix for the past few weeks where the temperature reached 118 degrees for several days, we were worried we might melt. Mom picks me up when we go for a walk and carries me across the street because the pavement is so hot it would burn my feet. What a great Mom!
Dad and Mom decided we should plan a trip up into the highest mountain range in the continental USA where the temperatures would likely be more comfortable and we could continue our Great Adventure that was delayed for a year by the deadly virus COVID-19. They managed to score 3-day passes to Yosemite National Park, and Kings Canyon and Sequoia NPs are nearby in the same mountain range.
Mom, Dad, and I left Sun City, Arizona shortly after lunchtime today, Monday, July 5th.
We drove through miles and miles of the desert with temperatures reaching 109 degrees, about 165 miles to Kingman, Arizona, where we spent the night in a La Quinta hotel.
Tomorrow we will be heading north-west through Las Vegas and up to Death Valley National Park in Californiaš.
