Up Kane Creek

Hi Everyone,

Well, Kane Creek Road was an adventure all by itself. On Thursday, Nov. 14th we attempted to find Funnel Arch and Hunter Canyon, by driving out a gravel road that skirted deep canyons and around very sharp and steep switchbacks as it grew narrower.

With steep cliffs on one side and steep drop-offs on the other and no guardrails at all, both Dad and Mom were very nervous and after about ten miles we abandoned the idea of finding the Hunter Canyon hiking trail.

So, we tried to find Funnel Arch by climbing up one of the very steep cliffs you see here in these pictures.

We were doing fine until we came upon a straight-up section that was about thirty feet high with no visible means of surmounting it.

So, we turned back again and headed home, slowly and cautiously back along the scary road toward Moab. It wasn't a complete bust though because on the way back we spotted another arch, way up high on the cliff-side.

We asked around, but no one seemed to know the name of this particular arch. There are so many arches around the are that some don't have names apparently.

In the afternoon we went back into the city and walked along another section of the Mill Creek Parkway. This part had some interesting artwork and community gardens along with it.

One of the local inhabitants decided to pop out and say "hello". His mate was right behind the tree resting in the tall grass.

Tomorrow Mom and Dad are going back to Arches National Park to explore more of the hiking trails around there 😊.
