Grand Teton National Park

Hello Everyone,

Sorry, it took so long to get this post out. I have been dictating to Dad, but the internet wouldn't work in the places we were staying, so he got behind.

On Monday, Aug. 19th, we drove over Teton Pass again (8,431 ft), listed among the most "dangerous roads" in the US, to Jackson, WY, and started exploring Grand Teton National Park. We drove through Jackson to the Eastside of  Grand Teton NP to Mormon Row. There we found a small Bison herd grazing in the Antelope Flatts area.

This guy was rubbing himself against a telephone pole. Some of his friends were rubbing themselves against trees and fence posts. I guess that is the only way they can scratch an itch.

This is a barn at the former homestead of a Mormon family that has been restored by the national park service for visitors to see how our pioneer forbearers lived on the high plains.

We also saw a Pronghorn antelope as well on Antelope Flatts. Notice how the animal's horns curl in on top, which indicates this one is a male

In the afternoon we toured the scenic wildlife and mountain viewing road through the park. There we viewed the Teton mountain range from Jackson Lake.

Here is the view of the mountain range from Jenny Lake, one of the most popular hiking trailheads.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20th, we drove over Teton Pass again, to Wilson, WY to walk along the Snake River Levee.

The Snake River overlook provided a great view of Grand Teton the mountain peak the park gets its name from.

Lastly, we took the scenic wildlife drive to Wilson, WY from Moose Junction in the park to hopefully spot a moose. No luck!

Tomorrow we will visit some of the state parks in south-eastern Idaho😃.
